United Methodist Children's Home Awarded $1.1 Million YouthBuild Grant

U.S. Congressman Bill Enyart (IL-12) announced today the United Methodist Children's Home in Mt. Vernon has been awarded a $1.1 million YouthBuild Grant from the U.S. Department of Labor.

"United Methodist Children's Home offers a vital array of services for families and young people in Southern Illinois," noted Enyart. "This award will allow them to focus on at risk youth by providing them the training, guidance and support to prepare them for successful employment."

YouthBuild is a non-residential, community-based alternative education program that provides classroom instruction and occupational skills training to youth ages 16 to 24 who have been in the juvenile justice system, are aging out of foster care, have dropped out of high school or are otherwise at-risk of failing to reach key educational and career milestones.
